The Road Less Travelled

It must be the ‘herd instinct’ that makes us want to go where others have gone and reported great experiences. Just to find those destinations overcrowded, expensive and disappointing.

Think carefully about the experiences you want, and the memories you want to create. You will find a destination that lives up to those dreams and provides a more authentic experience than following the crowd to popular ‘dream’ destinations. And at a usually better price too!

For the past three years, we have crisscrossed the US, living in various states for at least three months in each place. Other than Denver, Co and Milwaukee, Wi, every destination was situated in a small town off the beaten track. You can imagine the experiences we have had with locals, unique sights, and regional cuisine. Naturally we visited larger cities and attractions while on the road, but it is less than twenty percent of our discretionary travel time and never more than two days.

Do not be fooled by ‘travel influencers’ on social media for whom a photo at a famous landmark is more important than the local tavern around the corner. Create your own path and new footsteps.
