As mentioned, Carson National Forest is huge. One popular area is US Hill at 8,500 ft. (2590 meter) dedicated to recreation. Snow mobiles, skiing, sliding, and tubing are winter favorites. We got a sliding board for Elsa and the rest is history. The first time we visited, we were pretty much alone on the slopes. Subsequent visits had more folks around us and every single one had fun! A day of playing in the snow wets the appetite and we loved to go to our favorite burger place (5 Star Burgers), for lamb or buffalo meat burgers with green chili mayonnaise – topped with a local IPA with a strong hops and citrus aftertaste.
