As you know, Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, combines excellence in cancer care and research with an environment characterized by caring and hope. The Center admitted its first patient in 1986 and now conducts nearly 600,000 outpatient visits per year. Moffitt is a Comprehensive Cancer Center as designated by the National Cancer Institute, the only one based in Florida.
In addition to offering state-of-the-art cancer treatment to adults with all types of cancer, Moffitt has a strong commitment to cancer prevention and screening, community outreach and education, and is a leader in research in critical areas such as molecular oncology and drug discovery, immunology, experimental therapeutics, and cancer epidemiology. Moffitt operates the Southeast United States largest Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Program.
We have said a lot about Moffitt in the past but during Elsa’s six-month check-up we rented a ‘tiny home’ in someone’s backyard near the hospital. It was quite an experience and novelty! Other than pretty uncomfortable beds, we could not get the hot water going. All in all, a hotel room would have been nicer. But it was an unique experience.
