From Graskop, the road turned to the southeast and we drove through the town of Hazyview to White River (Witrivier). The White River area is one of the most fertile in the province and farming continues to be a central part of the local economy. Agriculture involves largely the production of tropical fruits, macadamia nuts, vegetables, flowers, and timber. The farms tend to be relatively small, and the agricultural industry is intensive. Many farmers produce for the export market which friend Marius specializes in.
We exchanged a RCI property about 6 miles outside of White River called ‘Pine Lake Resort’, for a week. This break served two purposes: One to connect with Cousin Amanda and Freddie de Beer, and good friends Marius and Christa Deyzel and the three young adults, Michael, Luke and Zoè. The Deyzels live in the town of White River and throughout the week we hung out at their beautiful home or the resort – never lacking food, drink, and good company!
