Reno, NV via Las Vegas!

It was time for a little break, and we headed to Las Vegas as it was relatively close and an opportunity to use our timeshare.

Las Vegas provided us with a surprise! It was clean all over and beautiful, even around the Strip. We really enjoyed our week vacation at the Holiday Inn Club Desert Sand which was two blocks away from the Strip. We watched construction of the Sphere, a round domed building that costs $2.3 billion. It hosts 580,000 square feet of programmable LED lighting and can seat 18,600 people.

At the opposite side of our resort is Howard Hughes Drive with beautifully sculptured gardens and office buildings. One residential development here is home to celebrities such as Nicolas Cage. It is impossible to image being in Vegas when strolling around this area.

Weirdos roamed the Strip as could be expected. Open marijuana smoking in public was evident. Yet, it was overall very clean, even in rundown areas. There was a strong police presence everywhere. The whole city is organized by zones: university zones, medical zone, gambling zones, etc.  It is very well managed, despite its reputation. Places to eat are everywhere. This competition demands great quality and service at affordable prices!
