Our next adventure took us on a five-hour road trip to Quebec City in Quebec province, Canada. We started out early with frost on the car windows and sub-zero temperatures. The ‘white’ of the road is a layer of salt dust as it snowed a few days before.
As we headed northeast of Bangor, we crossed the Kennebec Watershed, a natural basin that also that serves as the boundary between the USA and Canada. To the north, waters flow into the St. Lawrence basin and to the south into the Kennebec River and ultimately the Gulf of Maine.
Our first stop was at the grandiose Montmorecy Falls, standing 83 meters tall (272 ft) and 30 meters (100 ft) higher than Niagara Falls. We walked the cableway stretching across the falls, offering a breathtaking view of the water below you and views of the St. Lawrence River. Quite a sight to see.
