I joined the team from Interactive Health Technologies (IHT) based in Austin, TX in August 2015. This means traveling again to conferences and clients. More about that in another blog. The trip to Austin was in first in many ways: first time in this city, first time meeting the IHT team and first time at Nick an Kerry-Lee’s home (niece an nephew).
Austin is surprising in many ways. Not one but three different streets downtown over a mile long lined with bars and restaurants. Intermingled are little boutique shops and art galleries. The music scene is great and not a single musical taste is ignored. The other surprise is the number of people in the city limits: over 2 million with about 153 arriving each and every day. Granted, the city limits are pretty spread out but it is still a sizable city.
In contrast with Dallas which is so flat you can see the curvature of the earth, Austin is lined with low hills an deep valleys, surprisingly green in a semi-desert climate. We did sample some of the restaurants and a good bet in Texas is Tex-Mex or steak.
We shall definitely return to this city – with the family. A lot to see – including the bridge with over 1 million bats living under it. They migrate in October and no bat was in sight on this trip!
