We stayed at an Air B&B on the northeastern shore of Lake Ontario in the town of Greater Napanee. More specifically at Hay Bay about 45 km (28 miles) from Kinston, a sizable city at the beginning of the St. Lawrence River. Spread over a large area of farmland, the town boasts a Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company which is the largest employer.
The area is also well known for fishing from a boat or the shore for walleye, northern pike, bass, perch, lake trout and crappie. We did take the Glenora car-ferry from Adolphustown to Pickton, a picturesque community wedged on the edge of one of the lake fingers hugging the coastline. Besides grocery shopping, we obviously had to stop at a local brewery!
